Larry Middleman, President/CEO and Founder of CU Business Group, LLC has 37 years of credit union and commercial banking expertise. Larry founded CUBG in 2002 and has built it into the largest business services provider in the credit union industry, serving more than 500 credit unions in 46 states. As a CPA and banking executive, Larry has done extensive work with financial institutions across the U.S. on product design, pricing, process improvement, and sales management. Larry’s role at CUBG is leading new product development and consulting with credit unions on business services strategies, program development, and pricing.
Jim Clark, SVP/Chief Credit Officer33 Years Experience
Jim has 33 years of commercial lending and banking experience. As a veteran credit administrator, Jim has demonstrated success in all facets of commercial lending for both national and community financial institutions. Jim’s experience in credit administration includes managing credit activities, ensuring compliance, establishing lending policies, maintaining high quality loan portfolios, and managing loan growth. From rural farmland to urban industrial areas, Jim has experience in originating, documenting, and servicing all types of business loans including commercial real estate, lines of credit, term loans, and government guaranteed loans. Jim oversees the credit policy and detailed guidelines for all aspects of business lending and directs CUBG’s business lending team.
Michael Mucilli, SVP/Senior Business Services Officer39 Years Experience
Michael has spent his entire career gaining expertise in banking, commercial lending and sales. He founded CU Business Group’s east coast operations in 2003, and has gained significant experience in credit union business services since then. Michael has underwritten all types of business loans, including commercial real estate, lines of credit, term loans, taxi medallions, letters of credit, and asset-based lines. He also has extensive experience with SBA lending, has 12 years experience as a branch manager, and served as Director of Consumer and Home Equity Lending. He is a former instructor for the American Institute of Banking and has taught extensively throughout his banking and credit union career. Michael consults with credit unions in the eastern U.S. on all aspects of business services planning, program development, account pricing, and education.
Rachel Snyder, SVP/Chief Operating Officer22 Years Experience
Rachel has worked in the credit union industry for 22 years and began working with CU Business Group at its inception in 2002. Rachel's background includes significant experience at both natural person and corporate credit unions. Over the years Rachel has assisted credit unions of all sizes and experience levels with their business services needs and been a key part of the team that develops products and services at CU Business Group. Rachel's responsibilities at CUBG include consulting with credit unions on all aspects of business services, managing CUBG's education and training programs, and overseeing information technology, human resources, and general office administration.
Jeff Stone, VP/Senior Business Services Officer47 Years Experience
Jeff has 47 years of financial and banking industry experience, including significant experience in commercial real estate lending, loan participations, business deposit, and cash management services. Prior to joining CUBG Jeff served as the chief credit officer at North Island Credit Union where he oversaw consumer, residential, and business lending, along with the collections process. Prior to that, Jeff and his team at North Island created a successful business services program offering a wide array of commercial real estate and business loans, in addition to a full suite of deposit and cash management products. Jeff’s lending experience spans all industries, including investor and owner occupied real estate and commercial and industrial loans. Jeff manages CUBG’s specialized loan sourcing program and assists credit unions with complex credits, collateral revaluation, and other special projects.
Mike Smith, VP/Senior Business Services Officer24 Years Experience
Mike has more than 24 years experience in commercial banking, business consulting and education. Most recently he served as a Commercial Loan Officer and Vice President of a Texas based community bank where he was responsible for business development and portfolio management with an emphasis on real estate and healthcare banking. Previously he was Director of the Small Business Development Center at Lone Star Community College System in Houston. Mike has significant experience in all facets of business banking including commercial real estate, agriculture, equipment and Small Business Administration lending, credit analysis, loan review and compliance. In addition he is an adjunct instructor at Lone Star Community College. Mike consults with credit unions in the southern, southwestern and midwestern regions of the United States on all aspects of member business services.
Ken Imse, VP/Senior Commercial Loan Underwriter33 Years Experience
Ken brings 33 years of commercial lending experience to CUBG. His prior roles include being a senior credit officer for member business lending in a credit union and a chief lending officer for a community business bank. Ken is well-experienced in all aspects of commercial lending, including commercial real estate construction and term loans, commercial and industrial loans, and lines of credit for businesses, as well as SBA 504 lending. Ken also has significant experience in commercial loan portfolio management and administration, particularly in the area of risk management.
Coletta Bruce, VP/Senior Commercial Loan Underwriter37 Years Experience
Coletta has more than 37 years of financial and banking industry experience that includes loan documentation and processing, credit review, credit underwriting, and special asset management. She has more than 21 years of SBA lending experience at banks and credit unions and has developed and managed several SBA departments. In her role at CUBG, Coletta manages the SBA program, assisting credit unions with all aspects of SBA lending from loan origination through servicing. Coletta also underwrites all types of business loans and assists credit unions with other aspects of business lending.
Julie Engen, VP/Senior Commercial Loan Underwriter33 Years Experience
Julie brings more than 33 years of experience to CU Business Group. Prior to joining CUBG, Julie served in several commercial banking management roles at Citizen’s Business Bank in Southern California. There she had numerous responsibilities including reviewing and approving commercial credit requests, and restructuring and renegotiating credits, as well as business development, loan sourcing, and commercial loan portfolio and construction loan management. In her role at CUBG, Julie helps credit unions analyze and underwrite business loans and assists with loan structure, pricing, and all other aspects of business lending and portfolio management. She also advises CUBG’s junior lending staff in underwriting and credit management.
Dina Kroshkin, VP/Loan Sourcing & Participations16 Years Experience
Dina has been in the financial services industry since 2001 and has eleven years of experience in commercial lending. Prior to joining CUBG, Dina worked for Vancouver, WA based Columbia Credit Union where she participated in building a successful small business loan program. There Dina worked her way up to Lead Commercial Credit Analyst and also served as a business loan officer. In this capacity, she performed full underwritings including financial analysis on new and renewal loan requests for lines of credit, asset-based lines, commercial real estate, equipment financing loans, and SBA 7a and Express loans. Dina's responsibilities at CU Business Group include underwriting and servicing participation loans as well as underwriting a wide variety of other loan requests and completing loan previews and streamlined underwriting requests for credit unions.
Trisha Bartkowski, AVP/Commercial Loan Underwriter17 Years Experience
Trisha has worked in the financial services industry for 17 years and brings 13 years of commercial lending experience to her role at CUBG. Prior to joining CUBG, Trisha worked as a Business Loan Officer for a community bank where she managed a commercial loan portfolio and completed complex commercial loan underwriting and financial analysis for lines of credit, commercial real estate, construction, equipment, and SBA loans. In addition, Trisha has experience in performing annual reviews. Trisha performs underwriting and credit analysis on complex commercial real estate loans for CUBG's loan sourcing and participation network.
Sally Chinn, AVP/Loan Documentation Officer30 Years Experience
Sally has worked in the financial services industry for 30 years. Her experience prior to joining CU Business Group includes positions as a teller, senior loan closer, documentation and closing area manager, and operations officer at various financial institutions and service organizations. Sally has been with CU Business Group since 2008, and is certified in LaserPro® Commercial Processing. In her role as Operations Officer, Sally leads CUBG's documentation team and focuses on providing accurate and efficient service to CUBG's credit union clients. Sally and her team prepare documents for all types of commercial loans.
Nick Reynolds, VP/Credit Services Manager37 Years Experience
Nick brings 37 years of commercial banking experience to the CUBG team. As a veteran of the business lending world, Nick has a wide variety of experience in managing large portfolios, underwriting complex loans, supervising and directing departments, and implementing processes and procedures at large institutions. In his duties at both national and community financial institutions, Nick has managed teams of back office commercial lending operations and underwriters. Nick serves as Credit Services Manager at CUBG, overseeing the team of credit analysts that spread new loan originations, prepare annual reviews and appraisal reviews, and manage the on-going risk monitoring service. Nick also underwrites complex commercial real estate transactions for the loan sourcing and participation network.
Mike Williams, Commercial Loan Underwriter18 Years Experience
Mike brings 18 years of financial industry experience to CU Business Group. He joined the CUBG team as a Business Loan Analyst in 2013 and is now a Commercial Loan Underwriter. Prior to joining CUBG, Mike worked in the commercial lending area at a community bank, assisting loan officers with originating business loans in the community. There Mike’s responsibilities included spreading tax returns, ordering and reviewing appraisals, analyzing commercial loan documents, and performing site inspections and internal evaluations. In his current role at CUBG, Mike underwrites and performs credit analysis on all types of commercial loans and assists CUBG’s consultants with portfolio and operations reviews. He has experience in originating commercial and industrial, equipment, and commercial real estate loans, as well as lines of credit.
Claire White, Deposit Services Officer14 Years Experience
Claire has worked in the credit union industry for more than fourteen years. Prior to joining CUBG, Claire worked in a variety of positions for Alaska USA Federal Credit Union, including assisting business members in a branch environment. Claire’s primary responsibilities at CUBG include working with credit unions of all sizes on business deposit products and services including merchant services, remote deposit capture, and ACH origination. Claire also provides consulting on business deposit pricing strategies, risk management and internal controls, policy development, and more. The combination of Claire’s direct experience with business members and her back office experience gives her unique insight into what businesses want from their financial institution and the ability to help credit unions fulfill their business members’ needs.
Randall Smith, Business Lending Sales & Service10 Years Experience
Randall has worked in financial services for more than ten years. Prior to joining CUBG, he worked as a real estate broker and real estate investment strategies consultant, and served clients through various other financial positions. Randall began his career at CUBG as a credit analyst, and now consults with credit unions on business lending products including underwriting, risk monitoring, and loan review services. Randall holds a degree in Finance from Portland State University and looks forward to helping credit unions achieve success in their business services programs.
